Synopsis & Historical Value

Published in Pretoria by Makro Books in 1979, Notes from my Diary gathers diary-style recollections by A.M. van Schoor, a South African political journalist. The book draws on his early newspaper career and the public figures he encountered along the way.

The author's own presentation inscription, written in Afrikaans to a friend and colleague, expresses the hope that the book will contribute to a better understanding of South Africa and South Africans in the wider English-speaking world. It gives this copy a personal link to the book's purpose and to the diplomatic and public circles of the late 1970s.
