Synopsis & Historical Value

Pilanesberg Guide is an illustrated outdoor companion to the Pilanesberg park, published in Johannesburg by Jacana as part of its eco-guide series. It combines a park map and points of discovery with a species guide and tick list, so that visitors can record what they see.

Beyond wildlife, the guide devotes sections to the human history of the area and to how the park came to be created. The series to which it belongs treats the fauna, flora, history, geology, archaeology and culture of each region it covers.

This is the fifth edition of 2004, a useful and affordable piece of South African park literature, offered as a used collectible copy for the Africana and natural history shelf.
