Synopsis & Historical Value
Winning! is Clive Woodward's account of England's rise under his coaching, from September 1997 to victory in the 2003 Rugby World Cup. It follows a team that moved from the lower ranks of international rugby to the top as world champions.
Woodward draws on his earlier coaching career and the team's preparation, and sets out the man-management and coaching ideas behind the success. The book reads as a case study in building a winning side, told by the man who led it.
England remain the only Northern Hemisphere side to have won the World Cup, which gives this first-hand record a lasting place in the history of the game. It will appeal to rugby followers and collectors of sporting memoir.
