Synopsis & Historical Value

Tim Brooke-Taylor's Cricket Box, published in London in 1986, is the comedian's satirical take on the English summer game and a companion to his earlier golf book. Written in the deadpan manner of a solemn instructional guide, it spoofs cricket writing with tongue-in-cheek advice on tactics, umpires, pitches, pre-season practices and supporters.

The book mixes parody, cartoons, photographs and diagrams, with tactics, pitch inspection and the laws all treated with mock seriousness. It will appeal to anyone who enjoys the humour of The Goodies and the long English tradition of cricket comedy.

A first edition in its original illustrated jacket, this is an appealing collectible copy for admirers of Brooke-Taylor and for collectors of cricket and comedy books.
