Synopsis & Historical Value
Published by Thames and Hudson in 1990, The Journey from Eden: The Peopling of Our World is a general-readership survey of how modern humans spread from their origins in Africa to populate the whole world.
Brian Fagan draws together genetic, fossil and archaeological evidence to follow that long migration. The book is illustrated with line drawings and 96 illustrations, and was reviewed at the time as a more concise treatment than comparable popular accounts of human origins.
It remains a readable introduction to human evolution, the Palaeolithic period and early migrations, and will suit anyone building a shelf of popular archaeology and prehistory.
