Synopsis & Historical Value

Pofadder en Peddelford, subtitled Sandveldstories vertel deur Ferdinand Deist, is a collection of humorous stories from the Sandveld. Published by J.L. van Schaik in 1987, this copy is the second printing of 1989.

The tales are told in the typical spoken language of the region and feature salty, honest rural characters, their funny predicaments and their sayings. The book is one of three Sandveld story volumes that were later gathered together with Die pomporrel-kônsert and Bom Appeltiet op Eselspoort.

A charming piece of Afrikaans regional humour and a pleasing collectible companion for readers of Afrikaans literature and Sandveld folk life.
