Synopsis & Historical Value

Published in Johannesburg in 1952, Murrayfield – en Daarna: Die Springbok-Rugbytoer van 1951–1952 Breedvoerig Saamgevat is an Afrikaans account of the Springbok rugby tour of Britain and Ireland. It was written by the team's travelling correspondent and combines match reports, glimpses of life on tour and photographic plates.

The tour opened with a 44–0 victory over Scotland at Murrayfield on 24 November 1951. Across the wider tour the Springboks played 31 matches, winning 30 and losing only one, which has made the side one of the most celebrated in South African rugby history.

For collectors of South African sporting history and Afrikaans rugby literature, this is a contemporary Afrikaans record of that remarkable tour, offered in its original illustrated dust jacket.
