Synopsis & Historical Value
Published in 2001, Henry's Pride: Inside the Lions' Tour Down Under is the account of the 2001 British & Irish Lions tour of Australia, told by the man who coached the side. Graham Henry wrote it with Nick Bishop, and it covers the preparation, the matches and the tactical thinking behind the campaign, and sets the tour against earlier Lions teams.
The tour carried unusual interest. Henry was the first Lions coach appointed from outside the British Isles, a break with long tradition. The Lions lost the Test series 2-1, and it was the first time Australia had beaten the Lions in a series.
For collectors of rugby literature this is a first-hand view from inside a landmark tour, in a first edition with its original illustrated dust jacket.
