Synopsis & Historical Value
Published in Cape Town by Struik in 1993, this third edition of the Guide to Southern African Game & Nature Reserves is a revised and updated survey of protected areas across South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Zambia, Malawi and Zimbabwe. It covers around 400 game and nature reserves.
Each entry gives practical information for the traveller: directions, accommodation, facilities, opening times and contacts. Notes on the wildlife of each area are supported by regional maps and colour photographs.
For collectors of Africana and natural history, it is a useful record of how the region's conservation areas were presented to visitors in the early 1990s, and a handy companion to the authors' mammal and bird field guides.
