• Exterior / Boards: The pictorial laminated boards are clean and presentable, with a clean back board. The red spine shows a little wear at the foot and some creasing along the edge. The top of the spine and the front hinge area show slight rubbing, and the lower front corner is lightly bumped. Overall light shelf wear consistent with a lightly used copy.
• Interior: The pages are clean and bright, with colour illustrations and no visible foxing or markings. The binding is tight. A price is pencilled on the title page.

Synopsis & Historical Value

Mammals of Southern Africa, published by C. Struik in Cape Town in 1984, is an illustrated introduction to the mammals of the region for young readers. It forms part of A Young Naturalist Book series.

The book covers more than 100 mammal species found south of the Zambezi River. Simple, factual text highlights anatomy and behaviour, and colour illustrations and small distribution maps accompany the entries.
