Synopsis & Historical Value
Published in 2018, Captains & Coaches: Courageous Leadership: Trust, Team & Trophies uses rugby as a vehicle for teaching leadership and character. It was written with school learners in mind, with the aim of shaping their leadership and value system through the language of the game.
The book brings together the views of co-author Nick Mallett, the former Springbok coach, and four former Springbok captains: John Smit, Victor Matfield, Jean de Villiers and Fourie du Preez. Its recurring themes are courageous leadership, trust, honour, purpose and courage.
This copy is the first printing of the first edition and carries the author's signed inscription dated 31 March 2018. It is a collectible copy for lovers of South African rugby and of signed sporting literature.
