No Charge for Delivery is one of the most unusual books ever published. Its origin was an old, battered trunk stored unopened in a garage for many years. Within lay a veritable treasure trove of Africana, a collection of secret and highly confidential telegrams sent during the stormy years of the Anglo-Boer War and retained by the man who was then Secretary for War in Pretoria.
His son has now released this collection, annotated and where necessary translated from the High Dutch. Included are unique communications of such personages as Winston Churchill, Smuts,Kruger, Baden-Powell, Danie Theron, Steyn and Botha.
