Synopsis & Historical Value
Meetsnoere in Lieflike Plekke (roughly, 'Measuring Lines in Pleasant Places') is the history of the Nederduitse Gereformeerde Gemeente of Durbanville, tracing the congregation from 1826 to 1976. It was issued by the church council to mark the congregation's 150th anniversary.
The volume reproduces facsimiles of handwritten documents, giving the reader a direct look at the congregation's early records. It serves as a local record of church life in the Durbanville district of the Cape.
For collectors of Afrikaner church and congregational history, Western Cape local history and Afrikaans commemorative publications, this copy carries a personal ownership trail, including a 1988 inscription connected with a Table View hospice bazaar.
