Synopsis & Historical Value
Published in Cape Town in 2023 by FutureVille Indie Publishing, Invisible Fingers is a science-fiction novel about Rebecca, a 13-year-old girl who discovers that she is partly machine. It forms the second part of The E-17 Project, following Interview with Things, and this volume presents both parts together.
Rebecca befriends an android while a resistance group uncovers a transhuman plot, and she holds a formula that could affect the future of humanity. Set partly in a robotic facility in the Great Karoo, the story weighs the choice between human and machine, and at heart is a story of a mother's sacrifices and unconditional love.
A modern South African indie release, it will appeal to readers of contemporary speculative fiction on artificial intelligence and transhumanism, and to collectors of local independent publishing.
