Synopsis & Historical Value
Heroes and Heartbreak: Rugby World Cup 2007 is the second volume in the Sweet Chariot series of Rugby World Cup annuals, published by Green Umbrella in 2007. It records the tournament held in France, with profiles of the teams and star players, reviews of the major matches, statistics and results.
The book combines colour photography with written accounts from a number of rugby writers. It follows the pool matches and the tournament's triumphs and disappointments, and the large format gives the photographs room to carry the drama of the competition.
For collectors of rugby literature and South African sporting history, it is a handsome, well-illustrated record of a World Cup that is part of the Springbok story.
