Synopsis & Historical Value
Handwriting of the Famous and Infamous is an illustrated guide to graphology by Sheila Lowe. It presents reproductions of letters, documents and autographs from well-known figures and explains what each hand reveals about its writer's character.
The subjects range widely across history, from explorers, composers and writers to monarchs, scientists and notorious dictators. Each sample is analysed in turn, with special features titled Between the Lines drawing attention to particular traits such as slanted writing, tiny letters or distinctive loops.
This 2008 Thunder Bay Press edition is a handsome, visual volume for readers drawn to autographs, manuscripts and the personalities behind them. It will suit collectors with an interest in handwriting analysis and in the written hand as a window on historical figures.
