Synopsis & Historical Value
Great Movie Actresses is a large, lavishly illustrated survey of the women of the screen, published by Orbis in London in 1984. It follows film actresses from the silent era through the 1930s and on to the 1970s, and closes with a look at newer faces.
Each entry pairs photographs and black and white film stills with a short career write-up, making the book as pleasant to browse as to consult. A foreword by John Russell Taylor and a full index complete the volume.
A handsome, jacketed copy for collectors of film biography, cinema history and illustrated entertainment books.
