Synopsis & Historical Value
The Complete Book of the Rugby World Cup 1999 is a post-tournament review of the 1999 Rugby World Cup, published in London by Hodder & Stoughton in association with Scottish Life. It gives a match-by-match record of the tournament, with reports arranged by pool and round and illustrated throughout with Colorsport photographs.
The reports come from a team of rugby writers, former internationals and broadcasters. Named contributors include Rob Andrew, Eddie Butler, Andy Irvine and Mick Cleary, with Ian Robertson as editor. The tournament was won by Australia, and the book records the road to that result.
This is a handsome, well-illustrated souvenir of what was then the biggest rugby event staged to date, and a useful reference for collectors of rugby literature and sporting history.
