Hardcover, ISBN 9780413495600
Publisher: Methuen Publishing Ltd, London England, 1982
Used - Very Good. Hardcover. First Edition.

Chrissie: My Own Story is the autobiography of Chris Evert up to 1982, when she was 27 years old. She would still play another 7 years, and she would divorce her husband at the time the book was written, ATP pro John Lloyd, and later marry Andy Mill.

The book is of great interest, but unfortunately is not well organized. This would be the fault of co-author Neil Amdur, a New York Times sports reporter, not of Chris Evert. Presumably the book is compiled from interviews, and Amdur should have spent more time piecing them together and asking follow up questions.
There is still good information in the book, however, some of which is excerpted below. In addition to these excerpts, Chrissie: My Own Story also covers events of Chrissie's youth, her relationships with ATP pro Jimmy Connors, Jack Ford (son of US President Jerry Ford), Burt Reynolds, and John Lloyd. Interestingly, Chris had little to say about Tracy Austin--except that she worried a lot about playing against her.
