These reports were originally commissioned by UNICEF as part of its regular work in assessing the situation of children and children's needs in different countries of the world. The important findings which emerged suggested, however, that the reports should be used to draw international attention to the serious and, in many ways, deteriorating situation of children in the SADCC countries. These reports are also concerned with what can be done to respond to the needs of children in these countries.
