The history and story of Cape Town's Malay Quarter, Bokaap, which has the largest concentration of pre-1840 architecture in S Africa, and the project to restore and conserve it. Lesley Townsend's b/w photographs vividly evoke this fascinating area and its range of historic buildings. Other illustrations are drawings and archive maps and photographs.
