Synopsis & Historical Value

Published in London by Bison Books in 1985, Atlas of World War II presents the major campaigns and battles of the conflict through maps, from the German blitzkrieg to the fall of Berlin. Cartography is the heart of the book, supported by text for each campaign and an introduction setting out the wider context.

The atlas ranges across the European, Mediterranean, Pacific and Asian theatres, with maps showing commanders, orders of battle and the areas of operation of the units involved. Black and white photographs and chapter openers add period atmosphere to the cartographic record.

A handsome, large-format reference for readers of military history and for collectors of Second World War militaria and cartography.
