Absolutely amusing and yet classic description of the time, which was just before the First World War, with young men trying to carve a way of life 'out there', in the colonies. I recall the funniest description of a put-together polo game ever, as well as a short poem which clarified the situation: "It's great to be a settler/ and sit upon a post/ a-watching all the calves and lambs/ a-giving up the ghost."
