Synopsis & Historical Value
Die Kerk teen Seinheuwel: Drieankerbaai 1880 \u2014 1980 is a centenary history of the Nederduitse Gereformeerde congregation of Drieankerbaai (Three Anchor Bay) on Cape Town's Atlantic seaboard, published in 1980 to mark one hundred years of the congregation.
The congregation was founded on 10 March 1880, when it separated from the Groote Kerk congregation of Cape Town. The book follows its life from those beginnings to its centenary year, and the title page faces a colour photograph of the church and parsonage as they stood in 1980.
Written in Afrikaans by Etienne G. Malan, it is a useful source for local church history and for the story of the Sea Point area, and will appeal to collectors of Cape Town congregational histories and Afrikaner religious heritage.
