This Special Book was gifted, Inscribed and signed by "Tienie, dated 21.4.1967. The book was a gift to and originate from the personal Library of Hermann Giliomee, an author of historical and political studies, former Professor of Political Studies at the University of Cape Town, President of the South African Institute of Race Relations and Extraordinary Professor of History at the Stellenbosch University. In addition a quote by the late Prime Minister of the then Union of South Africa, Dr D.F. Malan, is delicately inscribed on the fourth page. The quotation reads as follows: ' Dis makliker om van jou vriende as jou gewete afskeid te neem".

Condition: Very Good. This book is in very good condition. The DJ has some signs of wear and tear but the book cover in dark green and the book pages are clean, intact and the spine remains undamaged. The front and last pages shows some limited signs of tanning and cellotape use. This book has overall been well maintained and looked after thus far. The book is protected with a Cellophane cover.
*The author writes of his personal meetings with Hitler, Goebbels, Smuts, and a variety of others. He has an engaging and direct personal style. He is especially interesting in describing his surprise at the force or inexplicable charisma of Hitler's personality when he met him at a diplomatic function.
*These memoirs of the Afrikaner nationalist leader Hans van Rensburg are in general good condition. Van Rensburg was much persuaded by national-socialism after a visit to Nazi Germany, and during his time at the Ossewa-Brandwag, he and his peers were advocates of a 'sjambokracy' or 'the law of the whip'.
