Antonia Hunt tells her story with honesty. She was staying with her relative in France when the occupying Germans moved all English subjects to a detention camp. Eventually she was released and obtained false identity to escape to Vichy France, but she lived always with the fear that she would be found out. She returns to Paris only to be picked up by the Gestapo and "interrogated" for five months at the Gestapo headquarters. She is finally reunited with her mother in England when the Allies push the Germans out of France.

The most interesting aspect of this story is that Antonia was a teenager without any family and she managed to survive the occupation. She fell in love, fell out of love, lived constantly with danger, managed to get her high school degree, and lived with the unfailing knowledge that England would never fall to the Germans.
