Willie Olivier has explored southern Africa on foot, by road and by four-wheel drive for about five decades. That experience underpins a long list of travel and outdoor titles, including African Adventurer's Guide: Namibia, African Adventurer's Guide: Mozambique, Touring in South Africa and Exploring the Natural Wonders of South Africa.

Earlier co-authored works include Wilderness Journeys and Overland Through Southern Africa, and he co-wrote Hiking Beyond Cape Town with Nina du Plessis.
