Synopsis & Historical Value
Manna: My verhaal van rooibostee en wonderwerke (My story of rooibos tea and miracles) is the Afrikaans autobiography of Annique Theron, the businesswoman and rooibos researcher best known for her rooibos-based health and cosmetic products.
Theron tells how rooibos tea and the idea of manna, a gift or small miracle, shaped her work, her family life and her career. Her interest in rooibos began in 1968, when she gave the tea to her infant daughter, who suffered from colic. That experience led to the founding of her own company and to her work on rooibos for allergies.
The book is a first-hand account of a self-made South African entrepreneur and is cited in academic writing on rooibos. It will appeal to collectors of Afrikaans autobiography, South African business history and the heritage of rooibos.
