The Golden Escarpment is a fitting tribute to the eastern Transvaal and came about through an investment by Ovland limited(a subsidiary of Ovenstone investments limited) in the Mount Sheba hotel and timeshare development. Mount sheba commissioned the photographs and text for the book and sponsored its publication. Without question the eastern Transvaal and particularly the Drankensberg escarpment is one of the most beautiful parts of the southern Africa.
