Traces the relationship of the English with the Afrikaner over this period and provides the basis upon which the Englishman both in South Africa and in Britain arrived at his conclusions. Looks at division among the English as to their opinions and deduces that the relationship of the English with the Afrikaner was the conflict between liberalism and conservatism.
