This book shows a choice of Burchell's delightful vignettes in order to present faithful reproductions of the 53 most attractive woodcuts and so to illustrate the liveliness and charm produced by the combination of artistry and the talents of Branston, the engraver. The accompanying descriptive text has been selected as far as possible from the traveler's own words, although in some cases his spelling of names has been modernised.
