It continues the story of Lucas and his friends, who have been abducted by aliens, had strange objects implanted in their heads and gained unusual powers.

In this instalment the group is left grieving the death of Ayanda in a plane crash, while strange events begin to unsettle the army town of Nova. Lucas wishes he could forget the spaceship, the beings and the crash, but the military base is full of secrets, and the question is whether he and his friends are ready to uncover the biggest one of all.

Afrikaans science fiction is a small field, and the Nova series is one of its few youth-oriented examples. The individual paperbacks are now out of print, which makes a clean copy of a later volume a useful find for readers and collectors of modern Afrikaans youth fiction.

Author Profile: Fanie Viljoen

Fanie Viljoen was born in Welkom on 2 January 1970 and is now based in Bloemfontein.
