The author focuses the spotlight on the officers in the militia, artillery and volunteer corps in the ZAR as well as the Orange Free State who fought with the Boers. More than 730 officers, 83 generals, 323 commanders, 147 field-cornets, 10 colonels, 10 majors, 67 captains and 94 lieutenants are recorded. Over 500 b&w photographs.
